And that’s it! Yesterday, the DIAPOD team departed the ship with a little sadness to be leaving. We’ve all worked very hard and the cruise has been a success (I think it’s safe to say that now we’re all off, right?). Everyone managed to get the data we needed and wanted, despite the changes to the planned stations due to the dense pack ice.
So, of course, we’d all just want to sleep for a week to recover, surely? Nope. We are in Longyearbyen in Svalbard, and it’s such a unique and beautiful place that nobody wants to miss it. We went on a group evening hike for four hours to stretch out our legs, and everyone is packing in as many activities and explorations as possible before the next flight home.
